Creative reuse: ideas for revamping old objects

Hallmark Designer Lauren H. has been nailing these workshops and crafts lately. (Check out her no-sew bags and decorative file folders.) Today, she’s showing us how to make old objects we find around our homes feel new again by revamping them in the coolest ways. Have fun!

Fall is a time of transformation: the weather gets cooler, the leaves change color, and the beverages suddenly get “spicy.” So to get ourselves into the transformative spirit, we decided to dedicate a workshop to bringing new life to old objects. Got an old pair of shoes or a pottery piece collecting dust at home? Falling in love with it again might be as simple as a new coat of paint.

To prep for this project, we scoured basements, attics, and garages for items to make over. Then we gathered a few Hallmark artists and designers to help us make a little magic. Scroll down to see how they turned dust collectors into attention getters—and get inspired to transform your own found objects through paint, doodles, or collage.
