Hallmark editorial director Jean D. is posting today about a very fun workshop she got to be part of…all to test out a new collection of mix-and-match, DIY gift wrap from Hallmark. Read on for the details!
We got an early start on our giftwrapping this year thanks to Hallmark designer Gina, who gathered a group of Creatives from around the building and headed over to Hallmark’s Union Hill Studio for a gift wrap workshop. Our supplies came from Hallmark’s Makers Gift Wrap Collection, which Gina helped develop. The collection is for those of us who want to add a personal touch to our gift wrapping but don’t always have the time to find all the stuff to do it.
Gina got this wrap party started with treats decked out in some of the Makers Collection accessories. Once the Christmas music started, so did the ideas.
Bet (pictured below) decided to use trim on a bag instead of a box. After making several slits around the bag, she threaded the green ribbon through and used the tag as a buckle to get the classy finished look.
More fun followed with pom poms, tissue, sparkling baker’s twine and glitter bows.
Pom poms were cut from wrapping tissue and attached with the bow-tie bow.
Tissue was used to make flower bows, and the monogram trims were strung together like garland.
Tags, trims, papers and ribbons were combined in more ways than anyone could imagine.
Because everything coordinates in the collection, we found that there was no wrong way to mix the papers, tags, ribbons and bags. It all went together just right, so we were able to focus our creativity on making each package unique.
And when the time came to “wrap things up” everyone agreed: The fun was in the making. If you’d like to check out more of the Makers gift wrap collection, stop by your local Hallmark Gold Crown store for holiday wrap now and the new BOWS & BITS makers collection coming in 2016.
