What could make eight nights of gifts more festive for kids than it already is? Personal gift-wrap touches that make unwrapping almost as fun as the Hanukkah gifts themselves. Our gift wrap experts shared a few ways to dress up your Hanukkah presents (and maybe even start some new traditions). Check out these creative and easy Hanukkah gift wrap ideas…
Having a Ball
Start a new tradition with a cute and clever gift ball.
This seemingly never-ending stream of small tokens is fun to put together and even more fun to open. It’s great for kids and adults and could be passed around a family gathering to allow each person to take a treat.
SUPPLIES FOR HANUKKAH GIFT BALL
tiny gifts—like gelt, folded dollar bills, dreidels, or stickers
Cut your tissue paper into strips that are about two inches thick.
Fold the first small gift into the end of one strip, and begin rolling the tissue around the gift. If you want to make it a game, start with the most fun or valuable gift.
Keep rolling and tuck in more gifts as you go. A couple of inches before you reach the end of each tissue strip, place the end of another strip on top and continue rolling, so your tissue never runs out.
Once you’ve rolled up all your gifts, finish off the bundle with a ribbon and a sticker, or attach a piece of chocolate gelt for a little added flair.
This wrapped gift can double as holiday decor.
SUPPLIES FOR HANUKKAH SHINING STAR
confetti or gift bag filler
small gifts, gelt, or gift cards
tape or glue
ribbon or baker’s twine
Cut two pieces of gift wrap into the shape of the Star of David.
Place one star shiny side down and pile your confetti and gifts in the center.
Set the other star on top of the gifts and line it up with the first star, then glue or tape the edges together.
Wind baker’s twine between the points and finish it off with a gift tag.
Toys on toys
Layer ribbon, strips of contrasting wrapping paper, and baker’s twine around your wrapped gifts, and finish them off with a little attachment—like this dinosaur toy, a dreidel, or a bag of gelt.
