Trend Story: Greenery is the color of the year

Color is a profound source of inspiration to creatives—and Hallmark Trend Studio Designer Sam B. is no exception. With the first days of spring on their way—and Pantone’s 2017 Color of the Year declaration—he believes green is a good place to start creating.

New-growth hues of green serve as a kind of dynamo, jump-starting our year with renewed energy. But why go with any one shade?

Last December, I had the opportunity to attend the Art Basel Modern and Contemporary art fair and Design Miami, a “celebration of design culture and commerce.” Below are a garden variety of green color stories that caught my eye.

As a special treat, we’ve also included a stunning malachite desktop and mobile wallpaper with a bit of colorful Hallmark history. You can download it here.

Our exclusive wallpaper is taken from a Hallmark photo of “The Tazza,” a five-foot saucer mounted on a six-and-a-half foot pedestal in Kansas City’s Linda Hall Library. According to the website, it’s “one of the four most important pieces of green malachite in the world, according to art historians, and the largest in the U.S.”
